Dancing with Parkinson’s at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery

Dancing with Parkinson’s is evolving this term as I begin a new collaboration with the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery.

This sixteen week pilot which is run alongside the neuro-rehabilitation unit physio team will include a small research pilot involving a Quality of Life and Efficacy to Exercise study as well as person centred focus group sessions using nominal group technique to uncover the value of dancing for people with Parkinson’s.

The Dancing with Parkinson’s programme is led by Danielle Teale and all classes include live music and collaborative, artistic input from dance artists, musicians and visual artists. For the new programme at NHNN I am delighted to work once again alongside creative musician Jaka Skapin. In addition I have previously posted about my ongoing offer of teacher shadowing and mentoring for dance artists new to this field of practice. Dance performer and teacher Valentina Formenti joins me as a mentee for this special new term.
