Luminelle are looking for an experienced dance artist to join their new early years project, Kindred.

Building on the first phase of R&D in 2023 where this concept was tested with kind support from Oxford City Council, The North Wall and Dancin’ Oxford, Kindred 2024 looks to develop and grow the project and performance concept. We will be deepening relationships with families and implementing lessons learnt from 2023, leading to a redeveloped performance for Pegasus Theatre, as part of Tiny Ideas Festival 2024. The project will include delivery of weekly ELKIN CLUB sessions as part of an R&D process which consists of creative dance workshops, lunch and social time with arts and crafts activities, followed by a Maternal Journal session, facilitated by our Artistic Director, Danielle Jones.

About you:

We are looking for an experienced dance artist to co-lead all of the ELKIN CLUB sessions, attend our team R&D day, and commit to up to 4 rehearsals for Kindred and the performance day. We expect the dance artist to be experienced in working with early years, performing as a dancer in co-created performances, and delivering projects in community settings. We are looking an open and generous artist who enjoys being in co-creative environments, working with non-professional communities.

Project timeline:

The project will run from June – September 2024. ELKIN CLUB sessions will run between June and July, with rehearsals throughout August, ending with the Kindred performance in September.

Budget:

The fee for this project is £1650 inclusive of VAT. An additional budget of £20 per day is available for travel. Please discuss with us if you have any additional needs regarding access.

Luminelle is committed to widening access to working in the arts and recognises the value of having a diverse workforce. We are particularly interested in hearing from applicants who are parents of young children and find it difficult to work with a lack of childcare and support. We can work with you to arrange childcare or to work alongside your child for the duration of the project while the artist is required to work. We are happy to discuss this before you apply, during interview and will be arranged upon appointment of the position.

We will inform you if you have been chosen for interview by 10th May and then be invited to interview with Danielle during the W/C 13th May (date will be confirmed between applicant and Luminelle). We will then look to appoint soon after, ready for the dance artist to attend the R&D day on the 29th May.
