We are thrilled to announce three exciting commission opportunities for visual artists to respond to the latest Danielle Jones (Teale) Dance project Collective IDentity.
Collective IDentity (CID Project), a programme by Danielle Jones (Teale) Dance, brings expressive, moving and creative dance opportunities to people with Parkinson’s throughout 2021. Featuring a live dance and music programme directed by Danielle Jones (Teale) (dance) and Jaka Skapin (music), Collective IDentity is an exploration of togetherness and empathy, in a personal enquiry into compassion, care, identity and collectivity, both on screen and in person.
This innovative project has two major strands of work; an artistic, multidimensional dance and music project taking place both online and in person for people with Parkinson’s to engage with; and the creation of a documentary film and visual arts exhibition that will tour to libraries, hospitals and arts venues across the UK. Collective IDentity will produce a body of artistic work that represents the collaborative enquiry of dancers with Parkinson’s across the country.
The Brief
We’re looking to commission up to 3 artists to the value of £1,500 per commission. Each artist will produce a response to the dance process taking place through the creation of a small series of pieces suitable for exhibiting online and in small gallery spaces including in libraries and hospitals.
We’re open to receiving commissions from across the breadth of visual arts from paint to crafts, film, photography or illustration to print making. The key thing we’re looking for is an association and respect of the values of the project and how this might be translated into work for an exhibition.
The commissioned artists will be invited into the very private spaces that are the online and in person dance studios in order to respond to the dancers and what they are exploring.
Your work will then be programmed into an exhibition that will be toured around libraries, hospitals and art venues to our key country-wide partners in Hampshire, Essex, Lancashire, Central, South West and East London between October 2021 – April 2022. We will also discuss and negotiate a postcard series and a limited print run of selected images.
